In a landmark display of innovation and collaboration, Segway and TIER-Dott have united to offer 10,000 complimentary e-bike rides during the recent events in Paris. This initiative aimed to promote sustainable urban mobility in one of the world’s most visited cities during the bustling summer season and the Games. It also sought to enhance ridership and raise awareness about the convenience and environmental benefits of micromobility options, thus encouraging a shift towards greener transportation.

    Supporting Sustainable Urban Living

TIER-Dott, a leading operator in the shared micromobility sector, deployed a fleet of 15,000 e-bikes to facilitate the Games from July 26 to September 8. These e-bikes played a crucial role in Paris’s efforts to improve urban living conditions and significantly reduce its environmental footprint. Over this period, the e-bikes recorded an impressive milestone of one million rides, covering a total of 3.3 million kilometres. The initiative attracted approximately 500,000 riders, with 48,000 of them being first-time users of TIER-Dott’s service, indicating a successful introduction to micromobility.

    Enhancing Mobility through Collaboration

Segway, recognised globally as a leader in sustainable micromobility transportation, partnered with TIER-Dott not only to provide 10,000 free rides across Paris during the Games but also as the supplier of the 15,000 e-bikes. This collaboration resulted in unprecedented positive feedback for TIER-Dott’s Paris fleet. Segway’s on-site technical support was instrumental in managing the high demand for the service, showcasing that Segway’s vehicles and TIER-Dott’s operational strategies were ideally suited for the event. The seamless integration of technology and service delivery proved to be a vital component in enhancing the overall user experience.

    Voices from the Industry

Alan Zhao, a director at Segway, stated, By providing complimentary rides, we intended to highlight the tangible advantages and effectiveness of e-bike services, particularly during such a globally significant event, particularly during such a globally significant event. Paris’s significant investment in cycling infrastructure, bolstered by progressive government policies, enabled this large-scale adoption of sustainable transport solutions.” The collaboration not only underscores the commitment to enhancing urban mobility but also reflects a shared vision for sustainable living in urban spaces.

Commitment to Safety and Community Well-being

Segway remains dedicated to advancing its vehicle solutions with a strong focus on safety and the well-being of communities. Since 2018, Segway has collaborated with over 240 shared micromobility operators worldwide, including the global leader TIER-Dott, to foster a safer, smarter, and greener transportation ecosystem. Through these expansive partnerships, Segway has successfully deployed over 2 million shared micromobility vehicles across major regions and cities, with more than one million of those being the iconic Max series shared e-scooters.

    A Model for the Future

As cities worldwide increasingly embrace green mobility solutions, the successful execution of the Summer Free Ride Campaign in Paris presents a promising model for other urban areas. The European Green Deal, which aims for climate neutrality by 2050, supports initiatives such as this with substantial investments in sustainable infrastructure. Segway stands ready to partner with shared micromobility operators globally to empower smarter, greener, and more sustainable urban transportation.

    Urban Sustainability.

The collaboration between Segway and TIER-Dott during the Paris events exemplifies how shared micromobility can significantly contribute to urban sustainability. By providing accessible and efficient transportation options, they are setting the stage for a more eco-friendly future in urban mobility. With continued innovation and partnerships, the vision for sustainable urban environments becomes increasingly attainable.
