VitrA Tiles has successfully launched its Aksaray solar power plant, marking a crucial advancement in its sustainability strategy.
As a major player within the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles continues to take decisive steps towards green energy adoption. The Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP), now fully operational, follows the commissioning of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar power facility in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this project ensures that more than half of the electricity used in its Turkish operations this year will come from renewable sources.
A Cleaner Future with Solar Energy
The Aksaray SPP is set to generate enough electricity to sustain approximately 19,700 households annually. The facility is equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, and will help reduce carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu emphasised the company’s long-term sustainability goals, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
Construction of the Aksaray SPP began in April 2024, with electricity production starting in February 2025 following the successful completion of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This project is a significant milestone in VitrA Tiles’ transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
