New Features in Current BMW Models
BMW is transforming the driving experience with its newest advancement, enabling drivers to seamlessly pay for fuel and parking straight from their vehicles. This new feature, now available in Germany, integrates with BMW Operating Systems 7, 8, 8.5, and 9, providing an unparalleled level of convenience and security for BMW owners.
Effortless Fuel Payments Now Available
BMW drivers can now take advantage of the “Refueling Payments” service, which allows them to pay for fuel at participating stations directly from their car. Initially available in vehicles equipped with BMW Operating Systems 8, 8.5, and 9, this feature will soon be extended to include those with Operating System 7. The feature can be used at a range of service stations including Aral, Esso, HEM, Q1, Sprint, Team, and Allguth, benefiting over 500,000 customers in Germany alone.
To use the service, drivers simply select the debit or credit card details they previously entered via the My BMW app or in the vehicle. The Single Sign-On functionality allows for easy access to multiple merchants through one login, streamlining the payment process.
Streamlined Refueling Experience
The “Refueling Payments” service offers a user-friendly interface for finding participating petrol stations. Drivers can use the “Search petrol station” tile to locate nearby stations or adjust settings in BMW Maps to identify those that offer online payment. Upon arrival at a participating station, drivers will see the payment option on their central screen. They then confirm the station, select the fuel pump number, and complete the payment process by selecting “Activate and pay now.” Notifications will guide drivers through the refueling process, and a summary of the fuel quantity and cost will be displayed on the screen. Drivers can track past payments and refueling processes both in the vehicle and via the My BMW app.
Enhanced Parking Payment Convenience
In addition to refueling, BMW is making parking payments more convenient. This feature is available across 12 European countries, with plans for further expansion. The vehicle automatically detects eligible parking zones and displays the payment function if the zone is covered by one of the connected providers. Payments are processed using the debit or credit card details stored in the My BMW app, and the parking session ends automatically when the vehicle leaves the parking space.
For parking zones with per-minute billing, the payment period will conclude automatically upon departure. This feature is also integrated into the My BMW app, where customers can manage their bookings, review parking history, and update payment methods.
Simple Setup for Enhanced Convenience
Setting up the new payment services is straightforward. Drivers need to log in with their BMW ConnectedDrive account or BMW ID and activate the “Parking Payments” and “Refueling Payments” services. A QR code displayed on the central screen in the vehicle allows for the easy entry of payment details via smartphone.
BMW has partnered with Parkopedia to provide and expand these payment services, aiming to enhance the driving experience with seamless and integrated solutions.
