embracing activity via a virtual world

Steve has taken part in Active Newcastle sessions before lockdown; he regularly attended our referral program sessions each week. In March when lockdown began sessions were put on hold. This left Steve having to think of new ways to keep active. Once the Active Newcastle virtual sessions began Steve started taking part in the daily live sessions, and has done some form of activity most days since March.

The sessions are friendly and accessible ....

Steve expressed that he likes the friendliness of the sessions and how he can do them any time via the YouTube channel. He said he feels comfortable doing the sessions in his home and is put at ease by the instructors leading the activity. He has even had other members of the household take part and also family members outside the household have been involved and taken part in the sessions.

Allowed me to remain active ....

Steve has said that the Active Newcastle Virtual sessions have allowed him to remain active in his home and he has thoroughly enjoyed them. He said: "I consider my Active Newcastle sessions and now the 'Lock down sessions' an important part of my physical and mental well being". Steve has even made suggestions to the Active Newcastle team about how the sessions could be changed and improved…and of course we took notice. If you would like to take part in the movement and well-being sessions take a look at the Active Newcastle Facebook page – or head to the you tube channel. The sessions are designed to be accessible and low intensity.
