Newcastle Can, a city-wide initiative, is on a mission to get Newcastle fitter and more active and to come to get as a community in doing so. The initiative is headed up by TV chef and campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and is all about getting communities throughout the city working together - at home, at work, on the high street - to become fitter and healthier.
The big idea is that the citizens of one city, acting together and supporting each other, can create a new model for making a real impact on our health. To date, loads of businesses and workplaces across the city, including call centres, taxi firms, and the police and NHS have joined the mission. There are also loads of individuals and groups of friends doing amazing things in their own communities.
