Case Study: Wingrove Primary School Parents
Participant Name: Wingrove Primary school parents (female) http://www.wingrove.newcastle.sch.uk/website
Sessions attended: Learn to ride group session
The parents at Wingrove primary school were asked if they would be interested in some learn to ride sessions run by the Cycling in the City team based at The Cycle Hub. Seven of the mums attended a four-week course.
There were varying abilities within the group, but during the four weeks they had some great successes. A handful of the mums had not cycled before and within three weeks they were confident and steady on a bike and will continue to ride during the summer holidays. Others had cycled before but not often, and they used the four weeks to build their confidence and learn routes along the quayside
The group were supported by two Wingrove school staff who arranged the transport to the cycle Hub and back and were there to support the group.
The group will break during the summer holidays, but will come together again in September at the start of the new term and will continue with their training
The school also provides cycle training for the pupils, so this is a great opportunity for the parents to learn and be more confident and cycle with their children and be active.
The learn 2 ride team put on regular sessions and work with groups from across the city. If you or a group you work with want to find out more, contact email@example.com and visit http://www.activenewcastle.co.uk/find-activity to find an activity for you
