Case Study

Participant Name: Simon
Session attended: HIIT (6 sessions)
Session leader: Swee

Simon has taken part in the Active Newcastle’s HIIT sessions in Brandling Park.  Simon was a police officer for 12 years before leaving in December 2017 to study for a degree. 12 years of eating junk food and working shifts had caused him to gain 4 stone.

Simon noticed the class advertised in the Park, he said:

“The class was free so I decided I had nothing to lose (except weight). I like the fact Active Newcastle are trying to promote fitness and encourage people to take part and become more active.

The sessions were great fun and free (what’s not to like?). I noticed a difference to my fitness level in the first 2 or 3 sessions. I met some new people and really enjoyed the motivation given by everyone who participated.”

Simon would recommend not only the HIIT class but Active Newcastle as a whole to anyone who wanted to get active or just simply get out and exercise more.

At our Active Newcastle sessions you’ll meet like-minded people, and be supported by a friendly session leader.

Since starting with Active Newcastle Simon has started doing the 5k Parkrun  (Town Moor) on a Saturday morning and has now done 5 in a row.  Simon will also be participating in the Great North Run 5K in September

Well done Simon
