Physical activity is for everyone, no matter what your age or ability, Physical activity isn’t just about playing sports and going to the gym.
Any movement counts: walking; gardening; dancing; walking upstairs; swimming; cycling. Anything that makes you breathe faster, feel warmer and raises your heart rate.
Physical activity has been proven to be one of the best things you can do to improve your physical and mental health & wellbeing
The national guidelines give us a goal, but anything is better than nothing, so start small and build it up to the recommended amount. And doing more is good too, but the benefits don’t increase with the amount of physical activity, it is more about keeping active regularly and over the course of your lifetime.
It is also advised that we reduce the amount of time being inactive (sitting and lying down)
