The Town Moor

The Town Moor is an interesting feature of Newcastle and home to the Hoppings, said to be Europe's largest travelling fun fair.

It has a history as pastureland dating back to the 12th century and is still used today for grazing cattle.

The moor is crisscrossed with pathways, popular with walkers, runners and cyclists alike and the sound of the busy roads that surround it are soon out of earshot.
