There are a wide range of clubs and groups in Newcastle that provide activities specifically for people in the city aged 50 and over. Click on any of the clubs listed below to find out how you can get involved.
We all know that taking exercise, or doing some form of physical activity, can be an enjoyable way to spend your leisure time, as well as being of great benefit to your health. But it is also the best way to keep both mind and body feeling young.
The activities described in this section are ways of keeping physically active that will also get you out and about, giving you the opportunity to meet new people and try something new.
Aquafit uses water resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone and remains an extremely popular fitness class for all ages and abilities.

You don't have to move around much to take some kind of exercise.
These hour long health walks are perfect for beginners and/or people wanting a brisk stroll with an opportunity to socialise with others.
Very gentle exercise for women, including seated exercise, to improve basic mobility.
A series of dedicated 50+ walks throughout Newcastle
A great low intensity class aimed at gently raising the heart rate while incorporating a range of mobility exercises.

We have varying disabilities including blindness, diabetes, recovering from strokes, and arthritis to name a few - but we are a dedicated group and committed to walking every week.

Golf made fun, by using specially designed clubs, velcro balls and targets we play in teams and individually and giggle our way through games that require very little skill just a good sense of humour and the willingness to join in.
Rookie Sports is a Social Enterprise committed to working with local communities, to bring people together in activities that can be enjoyed by all.
Tuesdays 12.30 - 14.30
A gym based exercise class to help improve balance, co-ordination, muscle strength and increase confidence in everyday life.
Friendly social dancing (Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa and Blues) to authentic music of the 1920s, 30s and 40s.
Mondays 09.45 - 10.15
Come and join in the OWLS (Older Women’s Leisure Session) for some gentle exercise.

The walking group of Newcastle's branch of The University of the Third Age (U3A) undertakes Costal Strolls/Nature Walks and Rambles.
The WonderWALKS are short, led health walks that occur every Monday afternoon. We are a group of 20 older people who love walking.
