Free Swimming
Newcastle City Council has stepped in to ensure that free swimming sessions can continue in swimming pools across the city, despite the loss of a government grant - see here.
This will be achieved by extending the existing Fusion Card scheme, where under 18’s living in Newcastle can get free access to a range of sport and exercise activities across the city. The Fusion scheme was initiated before the government’s free swimming programme and is a much wider programme aimed at increasing participation in both swimming and sport and exercise.
A programme of free swimming sessions for the under 18’s and over 60’s will be available at all City Council managed pools:
In addition, parents and grandparents who accompany their children will also be able to swim for free during designated Free Family Swim Sessions.
