Netball is the most popular organised women’s sport in the UK and there are a number of clubs in the region.
It’s a fast game that develops speed, balance and hand eye co-ordination.
As you aren’t allowed to run with the ball it will help you develop strong legs, buttocks and trunk muscles (core stability) as well as good balance.
Having good core stability improves throwing and stability when using your arms in everyday tasks, and also helps with things such as low back pain and as we get older.
It’s an active sport so you’ll get out of breath, which is great for your heart and lungs.
You will also burn calories, which will help with weight loss.
Many people may have played netball when they were younger and forgotten about it and now is the time to think about playing again!
