What Can I Do?

Find out what activities you can take part in and get Active in Newcastle.

Tennis

Whether your idea of tennis is a five set thriller down the local tennis club or simply hitting a ball against a wall on your own, tennis is a great activity to improve many aspects of your health.

Like all ball sports it improves hand eye co-ordination, balance, posture and strength. Although you use your arm to control the racquet, it actually needs strong shoulder and trunk muscles to allow your arm to move efficiently and yet maintain balance in the rest of the body.

Anyone can play some form of tennis, whether its “mini” tennis for school kids or just a knock about. Any form of tennis helps keep muscles strong and joints flexible as well as burning calories, getting your heart beating and your lungs working harder.

As its an activity that can be played at any level, it’s a pretty good activity for anyone.
