Netball is the most popular organised womens sport in the UK! There are a number of clubs in the region. It’s a fast game that develops speed, balance and hand eye co-ordination.
As you aren’t allowed to run with the ball it will help you develop strong legs, buttocks and trunk muscles (core stability) as well as good balance. Having good core stability improves throwing and stability when using your arms in everyday tasks. Good core stability helps with things such as low backpain and as we get older, good balance can help prevent falls.
It’s an active sport so you’ll get out of breath. That’s great for your heart and lungs and will burn calories. This can help with weight loss. There are many benefits of controlling our weight including preventing problems such as heart disease, diabetes or cancer. Many people may have played it when they were younger and forgotten about it. Now is the time to think about playing again!
