Five-a-side

Five-a-side football tends to be played indoors or on fast astroturf pitches. As well as involving smaller teams than traditional eleven-a-side football there are different rules.

The football isn’t allowed to go over head height and the penalty area is semi-circular and not rectangular. In five-a-side only the goalkeeper is allowed to be in the penalty area and there tend to be no 'off-side rules'.

The smaller teams in five-a-side mean that it involves short running bursts, quick reactions and stamina.
